Sorry this isn't about being vegetarian, there just aren't many pasadena communities so hopefully someone will read this and know how to help me out. So my family and I went to Big 5 in Pasadena today and we found this dog. She has no collar (and no signs that it ever did, trust me when a dog normally wears one there's big lovely marks like when you wear a ring) and she isn't micro-chipped, so no owner to be found. We went to Glendale humane society and they don't know anything about her... so anyway, she's incrediably sweet, is good in the car and walks well on leash, and knows the "sit" command. She's clean and seems healthy, her teeth and whiter than my dogs' teeth, so she's well taken care of...she's now at my house, if anyone knows about her, please let me know. Comment and tell me!

Subject:LA Raw Cuisine
Posted by:mark33.
Time:2:22 pm.

I went to Goddess Café thrice last week.

Since coming here, I’ve found five raw restaurants in the Los Angeles area, two of which are only a little more than two miles in either direction from where I live in Hollywood, pretty convenient for an occasional change of pace, much better than Philly in that respect, which only has Kind Café, and I used to have to drive twenty miles to get there. Having said that, I will go to Kind Café on both the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays during my trips back to the area.

The restaurants I've found here are Taste of The Goddess Café in West Hollywood, Jade Café in Silver Lake, Leaf Cuisine near Culver City, Juliano’s in Santa Monica and Napoleon also in Santa Monica.

I’ve been to Goddess and Juliano’s, both three times thus far.

I’ll probably check out Leaf at this Vegetarian Meetups and Jade in the next couple weeks.

Subject:Hooray for national mention!!!!

Hello, fellow vegs!

This month's issue of Vegetarian Times has an article on veg friendly places to get a "good veggie dog." While the focus of the article was on New York City, they had a blurb on where to get phenom veggie dogs elsewhere in the US.

Pinks was mentioned for LA, but specific to Pasadena, Orean Health Express (here in Pasadena) got its own section too! While I must admit that Orean's ambience needs a little help, I'm very excited to see it featured in a national mag.

While we're on the subject of veggie dogs, have any of you found a place that makes 'em fantastic? I haven't been to Pinks, but I like the veggie chili dog at Astros (I'm surprised they didn't mention Astros in the mag, actually- since they have a HUGE vegetarian menu). Anyway, if you like veggie dogs, you may want to check out this month's issue of Vegetarian Times. There are some interesting recipes on the matter as well.

An aside: Also mentioned was a haunt I used to go to when I lived in Denver, Mustard's Last Stand. That place features the best veggie dog in existence, period- and has for at least 10 years.

Okay, gonna post some good resturants that I like in LC

  • Ichiban Japanese Restaurant
    (818) 952-7655
    711 Foothill Blvd
    La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011

  • this place has awesome veggie dishes including tempura, rolls, and salad stuffs... and miso soup, if often good, it seems to change saltiness everytime you have it though, but for the most part, it's good
  • Taco Deli
    (818) 790-3354
    456 Foothill Blvd
    La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011
healthy mexican food, non-meat burritos, tacos, and soups yummy
  • and then subway, but those are everywhere lol.... there aren't really many resturants that have decent vegetarian options in La Canada, there aren't relaly many resturants either

Does anybody know of any rentals (hopefully under $900) that would allow a cat and maybe have enough space in the future for a dog and some gardening as my girlfriend and I are planning on trying our hand at self-sufficiency? We're thinking Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena and Sierra Madre.

Thanks for your help.
